What is the Fraxel® re:fine™?
Fraxel® (Reliant Technologies) is a non-ablative soft but penetrating laser treatment that can be used on and off the face. The Fraxel treatment reduces fine lines, brown/age spots, acne scars, melasma, and smoothes skin texture (skin resurfacing). By separating a laser beam into many small mini-segments, it can treat many tiny areas simultaneously, and leave adjacent areas intact, minimizing the healing and down time and maximizing the benefits. The Fraxel® re:fine™ can treat all skin types and areas of the body.

What happens before the treatment?
The skin is cleaned and a topical anesthetic is applied prior to the treatment.

What happens during the Fraxel® treatment?
The treatment itself feels like a pinching, snapping feeling that may be reduced with the use of cold blowing air. A Fraxel face treatment usually takes less than 30 minutes.

What happens immediately after the treatment?
The skin usually appears red, which may be covered by make up. Many patients may appear as if they were in the sun.

What happens after I go home?
Many patients choose to return to work, but may experience the feeling of sunburn for the first 24 hours. The skin appears red during this time.

How often do I repeat the procedure?
Many patients repeat the procedure with 3 to 5 sessions, separated by at least 2 weeks between sessions.
